Note
John and Thankful were grantees at Northfield, MA. They eventually resided in Northampton, MA, where John was Captain of the Hampshire Troop and was killed by Indians while in pursuit of them after their destruction of Fort Pascomuck."Pascomok Fort taken by ye French and Indians being about 72. They took and Captivated ye whole garrison being about 37 persons. The English pursueing of them caused them nock all ye Captives on the head Save 5 or 6. Three they carried to Canada with them, the other Escap'd and about 7 of those Knock'd on head Recover'd ye Rest died. Capt. John Taylor was Killed in ye fight and Samuel Bartlett wounded."
Another account: "May 13, an express came from Northampton, advising, that about break of day, a company of French and Indians fell on a fortified house at Pascomuck where no watch being kept, the people were alarmed in their beds by the noise of the enemy's rushing into the house; and before the inhabitants could rise, the Indians had got their guns into the port-holes and shot those that first appeared, killing some and wounding others. The surprised people made what resistance they could, firing briskly on the enemy; but the house being soon set on fire, they were forced to yield themselves prisoners" Fearing a pursuit, the enemy sent back a messenger with word, that if they were pursued they would kill all the captives. They were, however, pursued; three made an escape, eight were rescued, nineteen slain and three carried to Canada".
After John's death, Thankful moved to Norwalk to live with her son John.

Note
New Windsor, the home of the Tinker family, is best known as the site of Windsor Castle, which occupies 12 acres of land and has served as the residence of a long succession of English Monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II. In 1615 Robert was a church warden of New Windsor and "there for" signed the Bishop's Transcripts that year for the parish. At his death ,he owned property in New Windsor in the"parishe" of Clewer (Cleyw orth) and Winkfield in the County of Berk, in Berkshire and Burnham in the County of Buck, in Buckinghamshire, and in Berkhamstead, County of, Hertfordshire. He left hs wife Mary well off as long as she was widowed. She was to get a leasehold interest in a dwelling house in New Windsor and in a " messuage" or tenement in Clewer. The will is most interesting. It appears that he owned land, orchards and a tanning business, much of it in the tenure of others during his lifetime .
Robert was the son of Randall Tinker.
Father of John Tinker.
