Abraham Nash Sr. son of Benjamin and Ann Smith Nash, was b. in Braintree, Mass., May 16, 1740 (ac. to Braintree records, which are perhaps more nearly right than a family record, which gives the date May 29, 1740). He died in Shutesbury, Mass., May 25, 1791. He m. Lydia Smith of Taunton, Mass. She was b. there, September 7, 1740, and d. in Gilsum, February 6, 1830, at the house of her grandson, Cyrus Bliss, which was in the woods to the southeast of the John Davis house , in the east part of town. After the death of Mr. Nash, Mrs. Lydia Nash came to Sullivan, in 1794, and bought what was later the Eaton farm, and erected her first cabin at 211. Later, a larger house was erected at 211 1/2 , which accommodated for a time the family of James Nash. About 1803, shortly after the death of her crippled son, Levi Nash, Mrs. Lydia Nash went to Eaton, N.Y., and lived a few years with her son ASA Nash, who had formerly lived in Sullivan at 212. On returning to New Hampshire, she spent some time with her children in Gilsum, and, in 1816, went to live with her grandson, Cyrus Bliss, where she died, as stated. Abraham, Sr., and Lydia had seven children b. in Taunton, except the last who is said to have been b. in Belchertown, Mass. They were: 1.James, b. November 25, 1760. 2. John, b. August 12, 1764. 3. Asa, b. December 16, 1767. 4. Hannah, b. April 8, 1770, d. in Gilsum, at the house of her son, Cyrus Bliss (The old John Nash house), October 28, 1850. 5. Levi, b. about 1772; d. in Sullivan at 211 1/2 , December 3, 1802, about 30 years of age. 6. Betsey, b. May 23, 1774;m. James Davis. 7. Abraham, Jr., b. December 19, 1776.
